Overview

Sandakphu is one of the few Himalayan treks from where one can get the views of the "World's Tallest Peaks" like Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Khangchendzonga and so on. The famous “Sleeping Buddha” formation of peaks (Kanchenjunga Family) is an ultimate treat to watch on this particular trek route.
Sandakphu is the highest point in Darjeeling district of West Bengal and the trek route keeps on switching between India and Nepal all the way till Sandakphu. This continuous switching between Indo- Nepal border also makes this trek a unique cultural experience.
The trail is inside Singalila National Park, home to numerous species of birds and wildflowers. Nonetheless, this Eastern Himalayan Diversity Hot Spot is home to endangered Red Panda. It is rare but not impossible to get a chance to see this cutest shy animal.
Along with experienced trekkers, this is indeed a great trek for the beginners.
