At Foliage Outdoors, the Manali Adventure Camp is designed as a perfect first Himalayan experience for students who want adventure + culture + snow, without a very demanding trek.

The camp is set near the historic village of Naggar, surrounded by Himalayan forests and snow‑clad peaks. Over the course of the program, participants will:

  • Walk through the heritage lanes of Naggar Village, visiting ancient temples and the grand Naggar Castle
  • Try exciting rope and obstacle activities such as the Plank Walk, Burma Bridge, Sloth Walk, Commando Net and Jumaring
  • Go on a jungle trek and learn to cook their own meals in outdoors
  • Hike to Bijli Mahadev, a beautiful hilltop temple offering 360° views of the Kullu and Parvati valleys
  • Cross the Atal Tunnel and visit a snow point to play in the snow, build snowmen and enjoy snowball fights

  • The camp fees exclude airfare; flight tickets up to / from Delhi need to be booked and paid for separately.
  • The trip requires a moderate level of fitness, with daily walks, treks, rope activities and active days.
  • The journey includes overnight travel by AC Volvo coach to reach / return from Manali.
  • This is not a typical sightseeing or city tour; the focus is on outdoor activities, nature and learning experiences.
  • Accommodation is in basic tents on a multiple‑sharing basis – a back‑to‑basics camping experience, not hotel‑type rooms.
  • Facilities are simple and functional by design, as expected in a mountain campsite, and not comparable to a resort stay.

Adventure & Rope Skills

-Basics of wall climbing – grip, balance, using legs more than arms, and trusting the belay system.
-Technique and confidence on Burma Bridge, Plank Walk, Sloth Walk, Commando Net and Jumaring, including how to move steadily and safely on rope obstacles.
-Importance of listening to commands, using safety gear correctly and staying calm while trying new challenges.

Trekking, Hiking & Mountain Awareness

-How to walk on Himalayan trails during the Naggar village walk, jungle trek and the hike to Bijli Mahadev – managing ascents, descents, pacing and breaks.
-Understanding basic altitude and weather awareness: staying hydrated, layering clothing, and following outdoor leaders’ instructions.
-Observing Himalayan landscapes, villages and valleys around Naggar and Bijli Mahadev.

Camping, Outdoor Living & Hygiene

-Tent living at the campsite – organising personal gear, sharing space, keeping tents clean and orderly.
-Daily camp discipline: waking up on time, reporting for warm‑ups, mealtimes, activity sessions and lights out.
-Simple camp hygiene and “leave no trace” behaviour: proper waste disposal, keeping common areas clean, and respecting the natural environment.

Jungle Trek & Outdoor Cooking Skills

-Basics of a jungle/forest walk: staying with the group, following trails and being aware of surroundings.
-Preparing a simple lunch outdoors – helping with tasks like chopping (age‑appropriate), mixing, serving and cleaning up.
-Learning how much effort goes into cooking and eating in the wild, and appreciating food and resources.

Snow Experience & Cold‑Weather Safety

-How to dress and layer properly for cold and snow (jackets, caps, gloves, dry socks).
-Safe behaviour at the snow point – staying within defined areas, watching footing on snow and ice, and using the buddy system.
-Enjoying snow play, snowman building and snowball fights while keeping safety and comfort in mind.

Heritage, Culture & Local Life

-Exposure to Himachali culture during the Naggar heritage walk – ancient temples, Naggar Castle and village architecture.
-Understanding how mountain communities live, their connection to temples like Bijli Mahadev, and the role of nature in daily life.
-Learning to be respectful visitors in local villages and sacred spaces.

Teamwork, Communication & Leadership

-Working in small groups during rope activities, treks, games and campsite routines.
-Taking turns in simple leadership roles – tent in‑charge, timekeeper, group leader for a game or hike.
-Practising clear, respectful communication with peers and camp leaders, especially during challenges and problem‑solving activities.

-Managing personal belongings (day‑pack, water bottle, cap, jacket) and keeping track of items without constant reminders.

Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Delhi – Proceed to Manali 
Fly to Delhi. Upon arrival, proceed to Manali by AC Volvo coach. Dinner en route (at own expense). Overnight bus journey to Naggar.

Day 2: Reach Manali – Acclimatisation Trek
Arrive at the base camp located near the historic village of Naggar. Freshen up after the allocation of tents. Participate in an introduction of activities and an orientation session to get acquainted with the beautiful landscapes of Naggar. Post breakfast/lunch, head for an acclimatisation trek to explore the Naggar Heritage Village, Naggar Castle, and the ancient temples. Overnight stay at the camp.

Day 3: Adventure Activities
Early morning wake-up call, followed by a round of warm-up exercises. Gear up for a healthy and nutritious breakfast. Immerse yourself in exhilarating adventures like wall climbing, Burma Bridge, plank walk, sloth walk, commando net, and Jumaring. These challenges go beyond excitement—they are about conquering fears, boosting confidence, and pushing personal boundaries in a safe and controlled environment. The day comes to an end with some free time to unwind with new friends. Overnight stay at the camp.

Day 4: Jungle Trek and Outdoor Cooking
Post breakfast, go on a trek into the jungle to discover the wonders of nature. During this adventure, prepare your own lunch and enjoy some delightful moments in the wild. The evening session unfolds at the base camp, offering games that blend fun with learning. Later in the evening, engage in a fun talent show, making for an enjoyable conclusion to the day. Overnight stay at the camp.

Day 5: Hike to Bijli Mahadev
After an early breakfast, drive to Chansari village and hike to Bijli Mahadev. The hike takes approximately one and a half hours to reach the sacred site. The temple’s scenic location atop Mathan Hill provides a breathtaking 360-degree view of both the Kullu and Parvati valleys, offering a visual feast. After exploring the area, the descent to Chansari village takes approximately an hour; from here, drive back to Naggar. Overnight stay at the camp.

Day 6: Visit to Atal Tunnel & Snow Point – Snow Activities
After breakfast, drive to Gramphu or Sissu Snow Point, crossing the iconic 9-km-long Atal Tunnel at 10,000 ft. Enjoy snow activities before returning to the base camp for lunch and relaxation. In the evening, celebrate the last night at the campsite with a campfire. Overnight stay at the base camp.

Day 7: Shopping at Manali Mall Road – Depart for Delhi
After enjoying breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell, taking back enduring memories of the Himalayas. Proceed to the colourful markets on Manali Mall Road for shopping and local exploration. Lunch and evening snacks at Mall Road will be at your own expense. In the evening, board the AC Volvo coach for Delhi. Overnight bus journey.

Day 8: Arrival at Delhi – Return Journey by Flight
Early morning arrival in Delhi and transfer to Delhi airport. Return journey by flight to your destination.
