Itinerary

Day 01 | Tue 02 Dec 2025 | Arrival at Guwahati – Drive to Shillong
Arrive at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station and begin your scenic drive to Shillong, the “Scotland of the East.”
En route, stop at the beautiful Umiam Lake (Barapani), surrounded by pine-clad hills.
On arrival, check in at the hotel and relax.
Overnight in Shillong.

Day 02 | Wed 03 Dec 2025 | Excursion to Mawlynnong & Dawki – Back to Shillong
After breakfast, set off for a full-day adventure.
Visit Mawlynnong, Asia’s cleanest village, and walk to the Single Living Root Bridge (45 mins down / 1 hour up).
After lunch, drive to Dawki near the Bangladesh border and enjoy the stunning views of the crystal-clear Umngot River.
Later, return to Shillong for an overnight stay.

Day 03 | Thu 04 Dec 2025 | Shillong – Mawphlang & David Scott Trail – Cherrapunjee
This morning, head to Mawphlang and start your trek on the historic David Scott Trail.
Once a mule track connecting Assam to Bangladesh, today it is a beautiful 16 km trail through rolling meadows, streams, waterfalls, and Khasi villages. Packed lunch will be carried along.
By evening, continue your drive to Cherrapunjee and check in.
Overnight in Cherrapunjee.
 

The alternative options to the David Scott Trail
After breakfast, begin sightseeing in Shillong. Visit the Don Bosco Museum (about 3 km from city center) to explore Northeast India's vibrant cultural heritage, then relax at Ward’s Lake (around 2 km), known for its gardens and paddle boating.

Next, drive to Laitlum Canyons (approx. 25 km from Shillong) for panoramic views of misty gorges and rolling hills. Continue to the Mawphlang Sacred Forest (around 26 km from Shillong), a biodiversity-rich grove with deep cultural significance.

Later, proceed to Cherrapunjee (approximately 55 km from Shillong), renowned for its waterfalls, caves, and lush landscapes.

Day 04 | Fri 05 Dec 2025 | Cherrapunjee Sightseeing
After breakfast, explore the wonders of Cherrapunjee: Garden of Caves, Arwah/Mawsmai Cave, the breathtaking Nohkalikai Falls, and Seven Sisters Falls.
Return to your hotel for a relaxed evening.
Overnight in Cherrapunjee.

Day 05 | Sat 06 Dec 2025 | Cherrapunjee – Trek to Double Decker Root Bridge – Shillong
Check out and drive to the starting point of the famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge trek.
The trek takes 3–4 hours one way (about 4 km) and includes steep steps and jungle paths—but the reward is worth it!
For the adventurous, the Rainbow Falls is an additional hour away.
After trekking back, continue to Shillong for an overnight stay.

Note: This trek involves descending over 3,000 steps and then ascending the same, so a reasonable level of fitness is required.

For guests who prefer not to undertake this hike, alternative or less strenuous options will be provided, ensuring everyone can enjoy the tour comfortably.

Alternate Sightseeing for those not opting for Double Decker Trek
After breakfast, explore local attractions in and around Cherrapunjee. Visit Lyngksiar Falls, the scenic Eco Park, Thangkharang Park (approx. 12 km), and the majestic Kynrem Falls (approx. 17 km).
 

Day 06 | Sun 07 Dec 2025 | Shillong – Drive to Kaziranga
After breakfast, leave the Khasi hills behind and drive to Kaziranga National Park, Assam’s pride and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In the evening, visit the Kaziranga Orchid & Biodiversity Park (if operational).
Overnight in Kaziranga.

Day 07 | Mon 08 Dec 2025 | Safari Adventures in Kaziranga
A day of jungle adventures awaits! Early morning, enjoy an elephant safari through the grasslands (subject to availability).
Later, after lunch, head out for a jeep safari in another range of the park.
Keep your cameras ready for rhinos, elephants, deer, and a variety of birds.
Overnight in Kaziranga.

Day 08 | Tue 09 Dec 2025 | Departure from Kaziranga – Guwahati
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Guwahati Airport / Railway Station for your onward journey, taking with you memories of Mystical Meghalaya & Wild Assam.
