Discover Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, an offbeat wildlife destination in the Terai belt of Uttar Pradesh, close to the Indo-Nepal border. Known for its mosaic of sal forests, tall grasslands, wetlands, and riverine habitats, Pilibhit is one of India’s most rewarding yet lesser-explored tiger reserves. It is home to tigers, leopards, swamp deer, deer species, and more than 300 species of birds.
This 4-day Pilibhit wildlife safari begins with an early-morning pick-up from Lucknow, followed by a scenic road journey to Pilibhit. After lunch and check-in at a comfortable local homestay, head into the forest for your first evening jeep safari.
The journey includes six jeep safaris across morning and evening hours, giving you the best opportunity to experience the reserve when wildlife is most active. Explore different safari zones with an experienced naturalist, learn to read the forest through alarm calls, pugmarks, tracks, and other wildlife signs, and enjoy excellent birdwatching opportunities.
Stay for three nights at a local homestay, offering a simple and comfortable base between safaris. Day 1: Lucknow to Pilibhit : Into the Terai
Arrive in Lucknow early in the morning and meet the group by 7:00 AM. Drive towards Pilibhit, passing through the changing landscapes of Uttar Pradesh’s Terai region. Reach your homestay in time for lunch.
In the afternoon, head out for your first jeep safari in Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, a landscape of tall grasslands, sal forests, wetlands, and riverine habitats. Return to the homestay by evening for an introduction to the reserve, its wildlife, and the days ahead.

Day 2: Exploring Pilibhit Tiger Reserve
Begin the day early with a morning safari in Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. The early hours offer the best chance to observe wildlife at its most active, from deer and birdlife to fresh signs of larger mammals. Return for breakfast and some time to relax at the homestay. In the afternoon, set out again for an evening safari in a different zone of the reserve. Each safari brings a new perspective of Pilibhit’s rich Terai wilderness.

Day 3: Exploring Pilibhit Tiger Reserve
Spend another full day exploring Pilibhit through morning and evening jeep safaris. Look beyond just sightings learn to read the forest through alarm calls, pugmarks, scat, scratch marks, and other signs left behind by wildlife. With its mix of grasslands, dense forests, and water bodies, Pilibhit offers a rewarding experience for wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers alike.

Day 4: Final Safari & Return to Lucknow
Set out for one final morning safari, a last chance to take in the sounds, tracks, and quiet beauty of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. Return to the homestay for breakfast, check out, and begin the drive back to Lucknow.
The group will be dropped at Lucknow Airport for onward journeys.

When planning your journey, please ensure you arrive in Lucknow by 7:00 AM on the first day. Early morning flights are typically the best option for this.
