If travelling in autumn, you’ll be greeted by Himachal’s own fall colours — golden-orange orchards, russet leaves, and crystal-clear skies.

 

Then journey to Shoja, a quiet Seraj Valley hamlet surrounded by cedar and deodar forests. Hike to alpine lakes like Serolsar, explore ancient forts and hidden meadows near Jalori Pass, and breathe in the crisp mountain air.

Itinerary

Day 1: Chandigarh - Thanedar
Altitude: 2,300 m / 7,545 ft | Distance: 180 km | Drive: 6 hrs + breaks
Arrive at Chandigarh Airport and begin your scenic drive to Thanedar, a tranquil orchard town in Himachal’s apple belt. Check in to your retreat amid deodar and pine trees.Evening orchard walk.
Overnight: Thanedar

Day 2: Kotgarh Village Walk, Jawbagh Hike & Hatu Peak
Morning: Guided walk through Kotgarh’s heritage homes and quaint churches; learn about Samuel Stokes and the apple revolution.
Afternoon: Hike through conifers to Jawbagh Meadows, then onward to Hatu Peak (3,400 m) for sweeping views.
Overnight: Thanedar    

Day 3: Thanedar - Shoja via Jalori Pass
Altitude: 2,600 m / 8,530 ft | Distance: 160 km | Drive: 6 hrs + breaks.
Scenic drive through forests and valleys via Jalori Pass. Arrive in Shoja, a peaceful Seraj Valley village. Evening forest walk or leisure time.
Overnight: Shoja

Day 4: Serolsar Lake Hike
Altitude: 3,100 m / 10,170 ft | Hike: 6 km one way | Time 4 hrs round trip
Drive to Jalori Pass, then hike through oak and kharsu forests to the sacred Serolsar Lake. Return to Shoja.
Overnight: Shoja

Day 5: Optional Raghupur Fort Hike

Altitude: 3,300 m / 10,827 ft | Hike: 3 km one way | **Time: 3 hrs round trip
Morning: Ridge-top hike from Jalori Pass to the Raghupur Fort ruins with panoramic views.
Afternoon: Leisure in Shoja — explore the village, go birdwatching, or simply relax.
Overnight: Shoja

Day 6: Shoja - Chandigarh – Departure

Distance: 270 km | Drive: 7 hrs + breaks
After breakfast, drive back to Chandigarh for your onward journey.
