Nestled in the lower southern reaches of the Satpura hills, the park is named after Pench river which flows from North to South through the National Park. A total of 760 sq. kms. of land, and core area being 292 sq km, it is a mix of moist deciduous and dry deciduous Teak forest. The sprawling Pench reservoir at the center of the park and is a major water source. Believed to be Mowgli's Land, the forest abounds with wildlife and is home to a great variety of wildlife. The herbivore numbers are especially exciting.
