Overview

Shivneri : 

This fort is a 17th-century military fortification located near Junnar in Maharashtra, India. It is the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of Maratha Empire. Shivneri is known to be a place of Buddhist dominion from the 1st century AD. The caves, rock-cut architecture and water system indicate presence of habitation from the 1st century. The fort is at about 2-3 km from the junnar town and is worth a visit.

Tulja :

Tulja Caves are located beyond north end of Shivneri, India. The cave has circular Chaitya hall surrounded by twelve octagonal pillars around Stupa. These caves are one of the earliest caves of Junnar, excavated around 50 B.C.
